If you enjoyed last year’s 22 Nights of Terror in Diablo 2 Resurrected<\/em><\/a> event, then you’re in for another holiday-sprinkled treat because the event is back for 2023. The event is now live and lasts until January 4, 2024, at 11am pacific.<\/p>\n

If you’re ready to celebrate the holiday season, Diablo<\/em>-style, this is what you need to know about 22 Nights of Terror.<\/p>\n

What is 22 Nights of Terror?<\/h2>\n

During last year’s 22 Nights of Terror, every 24 hours a new gameplay modifier was introduced, each one altering the way players played the game. The modifier is announced on the character screen, and messaged through chat, so there’s no missing what’s going on. For instance, the \u201cSanity Clause\u201d modifier caused Terror Zones to change every 15 minutes, and online heroes received a festive buff. But no details were posted in advance, so the effects were a surprise to everyone who participated. These modifiers only affected the online game modes, so Classic Diablo 2<\/em> was not affected in any way.<\/p>\n

22 Nights of Terror also includes Festive Buffs. These buffs were originally a little ambiguous in nature, which caused a lot of discussion among the Diablo 2<\/em> players \u2014 but now that we’ve seen this event in action, we have a better idea of what these Festive Buffs are. For instance, one Festive Buff was a Terrorized Cow Level.<\/p>\n

What’s new for 22 Nights of Terror in 2023?<\/h2>\n

This year, we can expect more of the same. Every 24 hours, a new modifier will be introduced that will change the way you play the game. The event started on December 13, and the first modifier introduced was “Sugar Rush,” which gave 100% Bonus Move Speed and Stamina.\u00a0 Last year, the second day was a Festive Buff.<\/p>\n

Will history repeat itself? Blizzard hasn’t announced everything we might see during 22 Nights of Terror this year, so we could be in for new surprises.<\/p>\n

Who can participate in 22 Nights of Terror?<\/b><\/h2>\n

While the 22 Nights of Terror is a fun way to experience Diablo 2,<\/em> but it’s worth noting that some of the modifiers can only be experienced by players who have completed the game and have defeated Baal. Last year, this was true for the “Home for the Holidays” and \u201cSanity Clause\u201d modifiers that affect the Terror Zones. If you’re paying solo or with friends and no one has completed the game, then the Terror Zones will not show for you, and the modifier will not affect you.<\/p>\n

What do you get from 22 Nights of Terror?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The 22 Nights of Terror is a great way to earn powerful loot, and the daily modifier adds some variety to the game. If you are lucky to have completed a playthrough of Diablo 2<\/em>, then you’ll definitely get more out of this event than others who have not started the game.<\/p>\n
