We now know that <strong><em>Diablo 2<\/em> Ladder Season 4 starts on May 4 \u2014 <\/strong>that&#8217;s tomorrow!\u00a0Here&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.blizzard.com\/en-us\/diablo2\/23938388\/diablo-ii-resurrected-ladder-season-4-coming-soon#Season\">exact start time for Ladder Season 4<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>North America: May 4, 5:00 p.m. PDT<\/li>\n<li>Europe: May 5, 2:00 a.m. CET<\/li>\n<li>Asia: May 5, 10:00 a.m. KST<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Though we don&#8217;t have a specific end time for Ladder Season 3, you can expect it to wrap up shortly before Season 4 launches. We expect <em>Diablo 2<\/em> Ladder Season 3 to end on May 4, immediately before Season 4 launches. We&#8217;ll update this post with specific times when we have them.<\/p>\n<p>Not sure how Ladder Seasons work? Here&#8217;s everything you need to know about playing the next Ladder Season.<\/p>\n<h2>What are Ladder Seasons in <em>Diablo 2?<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t participated in a Ladder Season, you might have some questions as to how the Ladder Season works and what&#8217;s involved. A Ladder Season is a competitive game mode in which players race to level 99, with an online leaderboard that tracks player progress and experience earned. To participate in the Ladder Season, you must make a new Ladder-only character that starts at Level 1, and you work your way up. There are some perks in having a Ladder character, such as access to stronger weapons and armor, additional Runes that you can socket into your weapons, and Terror Zones that help you level up faster. Of course, Terror Zones are only available to those who have already completed<em> Diablo 2.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here are the different Ladder modes you can play during the season:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-Expansion Ladder: The standard version of Ladder play that encompasses playing only with the original four acts.<\/li>\n<li>Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder: The hardcore (only one life) version of Ladder play that encompasses playing only with the original four acts.<\/li>\n<li>Ladder: The standard version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts, as it includes the \u201cLord of Destruction\u201d expansion content.<\/li>\n<li>Hardcore Ladder: The hardcore (only one life) version of Ladder play that encompasses playing five acts, as it includes the \u201cLord of Destruction\u201d expansion content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once a Ladder Season ends, everything players have stored in their stash will get rolled into their non-Ladder character. Then when the new season starts, they&#8217;ll have to make a new character starting at level 1.<\/p>\n<h2>When is Ladder Season 4?<\/h2>\n<p>We&#8217;re only in our third Ladder Season so far, but they tend to last roughly four months, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.blizzard.com\/en-us\/diablo2\/23746135\/diablo-ii-resurrected-patch-2-4-highlights-coming-soon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which is the <em>Diablo<\/em> team&#8217;s goal<\/a>. That makes <a href=\"https:\/\/blizzardwatch.com\/2023\/02\/01\/will-diablo-2-ladder-season-3-start\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Season 3, which started on February 16<\/a>, a very short Season, running about two and a half months. The team hasn&#8217;t commented on this schedule change, though it&#8217;s possible that they want to give <em>Diablo<\/em> fans <a href=\"https:\/\/blizzardwatch.com\/2022\/12\/08\/diablo-4-release-date\/\">plenty of time to enjoy <em>Diablo 4<\/em><\/a>, and if Season 3 lasted four months, Season 4 would start only a week after \u2014 which wouldn&#8217;t give everyone time to play through the game.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside Ladder Season 4, we&#8217;ll get <a href=\"https:\/\/news.blizzard.com\/en-us\/diablo2\/23938388\/diablo-ii-resurrected-ladder-season-4-coming-soon#Patch\">patch 2.7<\/a>.
